Do I Need Therapy?
If you are asking yourself the question above, you’ve come to the right place. My goal is not to
“sell” you on therapy or to convince you that you need it, but to explain why people seek it, to
describe my approach to it, and to detail some of the amazing results it can yield.
Therapy allows you to experience life the way it’s meant to be lived. While there is no such
thing as perfect (and life surely has its trials), in general you need to be able to function relatively
well while feeling relatively peaceful, relatively fulfilled, and
relatively contented. This state is
“normal” and indicates that you’re energetically balanced.
However, when you are having difficulty functioning in daily activities or when you are feeling
“stuck,” overwhelmed, confused, heartbroken, or simply sense that something within you is out
of balance, that’s not normal. Anytime when you aren’t feeling “whole” and “grounded,” you are
not aligned with you, and you are not energetically balanced.
Therapy, from my perspective, is both an art and a choice you make when you are feeling
out of balance, “stuck,” or disconnected with yourself. You make this choice so that you can
eventually re-experience balance and therefore healing—as well as an increased sense of well-
being and wholeness.
When you make a commitment to work with a therapist trained in the principles of psychology,
energy, psychiatry, and/or counseling, you will gain the ability to function appropriately.
Therapy heals on many levels, not all at once but gradually. It heals you emotionally, mentally,
physically, and spiritually at the level of your spirit or soul.
The process of healing is one that may involve a relationship between you and your therapist.
It may also involve other people who may be contributing to your lack of balance—think, for
example, of a couple experiencing marital difficulty.
My training and life experience reinforce my belief that each of us is born with extraordinary
gifts that, when harnessed, enable us to recover an awareness of who we are and of how powerful
we are. Engaging in therapy enables such awareness to occur and also provides opportunities to
practice your gifts and experience healing.
Should you seek therapy? Only you can make that decision. But if you think you might want to
undertake this journey, feel free to explore the links below.
