A THANKSGIVING LETTER OF LOVE AND GRATITUDE

Dear Ones,

“Two kinds of gratitude: The sudden kind we feel for what we take;
the larger kind we feel for what we give.”

— Edwin Arlington Robinson

My heart is filled with gratitude for the many blessings in my life. You are among my blessings. I have come to deeply honor and respect the power of Love, an energy more powerful than anything I could have imagined. It is Love that brings strangers together; it is love that has the power to heal your mind, body and soul, and it is Love which is the heart of your prayers and miracles.

Most important, Love is your very essence. When you give a part of you (that is, your loving essence), you receive, in return, even more Love. I have felt your loving energy and, for this, you have my gratitude, appreciation and, of course, my Love.

This past year has been especially challenging for my family. I recognize the power of loving, healing intentions and I strongly feel that these contributed to the increased well-being of my family members.

At this time, I thank you for your kindness, loving prayers and for the heartfelt support which especially helped us through the summer months. During difficult times, I encourage you to utilize the powers of prayer and Love. Their healing power is extraordinary!

Between 1973 and 1974, just after giving birth to our daughter, I experienced two very stressful periods of illness – about eleven months apart. I was extremely ill and required bedrest for significant periods of time.

Following the second episode, I found a plaque entitled “Normal Day” which I hung in my kitchen. The purpose was to remind me (each time I would begin to complain) to be grateful for the gift of a normal day.

I share this with you with the hope that it brings you a greater appreciation of the so called “little stuff” that we tend to take for granted, and even complain about, as we go about our daily lives. If you or a loved one has recently been diagnosed with a life-threatening illness, as was the case in our family, this is particularly meaningful. My heart is with you.

NORMAL DAY

Normal day, let me be aware of the treasure you are.
Let me not pass you by in quest of
some rare and perfect tomorrow…..
Let me hold you while I may,
for it will not always be so.
One day I shall dig my fingers into the earth,
or bury my face in the pillow,
or stretch myself taut,
or raise my hands to the sky,
and want more than all the world your return.
